The Triumph of God's Love
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
Sunday Jun 09, 2019
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,
“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We Do Not Lose Heart
Sunday Jun 16, 2019
Sunday Jun 16, 2019
Fathers need to remember Paul’s exhortation: “Do not lose heart.” Do not grow weary in doing well. Don’t give up. Press on. Fight the fight of faith. And we see this especially in 2 Cor 4:1-2.
In this passage, Paul tells us followers of Jesus do not lose heart. But how can they not lose heart even as they face incredible hardship as Christians? Paul tells us he does not lose heart because he, 1) Renounces the veneer of apparent piety (v. 2) and 2) Embraces God’s Word as truth to live by (v. 2). This is also why fathers should not lose heart as well, as they lead their children and follow Jesus.

Heaven: A New Beginning
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
This is the first message in a series on Heaven. Most people, even those who know much about the Bible, probably have a vague understanding about heaven. You would think we should know so much more. Because truly, heaven is a matter of life and death. But sadly, most of our understanding about heaven is due to pop culture than it is based on the Bible.
So why this series? First, it is to clear such serious misunderstandings about Heaven. Second, it is to examine what the Bible says and why the Bible’s account is INFINITELY more encouraging and hopeful. Third, it is to help us during times of grieving as we mourn the loss of loved ones. And finally, it empowers us to trust God today. This message lays some groundwork for Heaven and explores 1) Heaven: In the Beginning from Gen 1-2, and 2) Heaven: A New Beginning from Rev 22:1-5

Life After Death
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
We have all heard the stories of people who have died for a minute or two and have come back to life. There are lights. Maybe a tunnel. Maybe some being, person there. Are they true? We don’t know. We know there are enough people who have made up stories to definitely question the truthfulness of such stories. But it definitely leaves us wondering, what does happen right after we die? This message looks at a few Errant Views of Life After Death, Biblical Views of Life After Death, and the Implications of Biblical Views of Life After Death.

The New Heaven and the New Earth (Part 1)
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
Author Randy Alcorn notes that five months before he died, C. S. Lewis wrote to a woman who feared that her own death was imminent. Lewis said, “Can you not see death as a friend and deliverer? . . . What is there to be afraid of? . . .Your sins are confessed. . . . Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind. . . . Our Lord says to you, ‘Peace, child, peace. Relax. Let go. I will catch you. Do you trust me so little?’ . . . Of course, this may not be the end. Then make it a good rehearsal.” Lewis signed the letter, “Yours (and like you, a tired traveler, near the journey’s end).”
The journey’s end is so wondrous that you will find the end of your days are but a doorway to the New Heaven and New Earth. This week, we will look at the Characteristics and Consummation of our destination from Rev 21:1-22:5.

The New Heaven and the New Earth (Part 2)
Sunday Jul 28, 2019
Sunday Jul 28, 2019
Last week, we talked about the New Heaven and the New Earth from the perspective of Revelation 21-22. John wrote about the beauty of what is to come. But we won’t really come to appreciate what is to come, until we realize what we are set free from. We need to see that creation itself will be set free and the implications WILL help us to live with so much joy today!

The New Heaven and the New Earth (Part 3)

About 50 years ago, a worship service holding 400,000 people took place in Bethel, New York. Author Brett McCracken described what was known as Woodstock, the mass gathering celebrating music, drugs, sex, and “peace” defining the counterculture 1960s, as “the festal concert gathering as a spiritual fixture in the liturgies of our secular age.” One attendee proclaimed: “It was indescribable. The feeling that came over me of warmth and Oh my God, there are this many people in the world that think like I think? It was like meeting your brothers and sisters.” Another attendee shouted, “We must be in heaven, man!”
When that many people gather and there is so-called love and peace with people, the first inclination is this must be heaven. A gathering of people “perfectly” expressing love. I was at a restaurant yesterday where they played a bunch of 80s songs. Bryan Adams “Heaven” blared through the speakers. Pretty much every secular song about heaven is always about meeting the dream of your life, falling in love, and then of course, that’s heaven. Even Christians fall into this type of thinking. But is this heaven, meeting random people to get high on drugs and demonstrating for peace OR marrying the person of your dreams?
We are going to seek the answer by looking at Future Marriage, Past Marriage, and Present Marriage.

Who Do You Think You Are?
Sunday Aug 11, 2019
Sunday Aug 11, 2019
Who are you? That is, what are the most defining marks of who you are as a person? Certainly in our current day and age we have a deep drive to paint a particular picture of ourselves that positions us well in the eyes of others. But what does God say about all this? In particular, what do the opening verses of Jude have to say about who we actually are? That's what this opening message on Jude will explore.
